Alma and How She Got Her Name by Juana Martinez-Neal

Alma may be a little girl, but she makes a big discovery that forever changes the way she feels about her name.
Little Alma Sofia Esperanza Jose Pura Candela felt her name was too long. One day she tells her father that her name "never fits". Her father asks her to listen as he tells her the story of each one of her names and then decide how she feels about her name. What follows is a simple, yet heartwarming story of how each name was lovingly given to Alma. Her family history unfolds with each name. Alma and How She Got Her Name is a wonderful story that offers a chance for readers of any age to reflect upon the story of their own name.
