Podcasts that students love

Over the past two years I've added a new way to hook my students into using their story element skills. Podcasts are a wonderful way to engage students in a story that is told in an audio format.
Students visualize the setting, the characters and their traits, and make predictions. As students listen to the podcast, they are allowing their thoughts and ideas to spill out onto a page as a picture or jotting down dialogue or predictions. There are many genres and subject areas covered in a kids podcast. Below are some  favorites that are for kids and performed by kids:

Six Minutes- This podcast is a mystery adventure. As stated on the various apps,
"
Eleven-year-old Holiday is pulled from the icy waters of Alaska with no memory of who she is or where she came from. Are her mom and dad really who they say they are? And when she begins to develop incredible abilities, she’ll soon discover she’s not alone in the world. "

Brain's On!- Science is so interesting when it is presented in a podcast such as this! Topics include: "Stars Twinkling, glowing, giant balls of gas", "The buzz on bees", What makes gross things gross?" and "The world of tiny robots" to name just a few.https://www.brainson.org/

Young Ben Franklin- Kids love this history based podcast about young Ben. The story begins before Ben is the famous Ben Franklin. Ben is a 14 year old boy living in Colonial Boston "with an adventurous spirit, a curious mind, and a penchant for getting into trouble." When Ben and his friend discover a mysterious letter that leads them to a "legendary treasure." Ben must use his wits to outsmart the nasty British governor of Massachusetts. https://app.kidslisten.org/pod/Young-Ben-Franklin#/
